Splatsin Homes Grand Opening Celebrates a Vision for the Future

On Friday, August 8, 2025, community members, leaders, and invited guests gathered at the Splatsin Homes warehouse at 3201 45th Ave #1, Vernon, BC to celebrate the launch of Splatsin Homes—a groundbreaking initiative bringing fast, affordable, and sustainable housing to the region. The event marked an important milestone in Indigenous-led housing innovation.

The celebration began with a moving performance by Splatsin Indigenous dancers, followed by an opening prayer from Elder Randy Williams. Kukpi7 Michael Christian and Splatsin Development Corporation (SDC) CEO Grahame Go shared how Splatsin Homes will help address the housing crisis by offering Net-Zero ready homes that can be built quickly, last for generations, and remain affordable for families.

The event attracted media coverage and drew an impressive list of guests, including Vernon-Lumby MLA Harwinder Sandhu—who spoke at the event—along with Vernon Mayor Victor Cumming, other local mayors, and council members from surrounding communities.

Attendees enjoyed coffee, snacks, and guided tours of the facility, learning firsthand about the building process and seeing the craftsmanship behind these innovative homes. Visitors also had the chance to meet the team making Splatsin’s vision for housing self-sufficiency a reality.

The success of the grand opening reflected the strength of the partnerships, leadership, and determination driving Splatsin Homes. As Kukpi7 Michael Christian said, this is “more than a ribbon cutting — it’s about creating homes for our people, our families, and future generations.”

A dedicated website for Splatsin Homes is currently in development and will launch soon at splatsinhomes.com.
