Record-Breaking SDC Classic Launches New Splatsin Bursary Fund
Proceeds from the 2025 SDC Classic Golf & Cultural Event have officially launched the Splatsin Bursary Fund, a new community initiative designed to support Splatsin members pursuing education, training, and meaningful career pathways. Thanks to the generosity of participants, sponsors, and supporters, an incredible $71,299.61 has been raised and donated to the fund.
Held on Friday, September 19, 2025, at the Shuswap National Golf Course in Salmon Arm, the SDC Classic brought together more than 120 golfers, business partners, community members, and friends for a day rooted in friendly competition and cultural connection. Hosted annually by Splatsin Development Corporation (SDC), the event has become one of the most anticipated community golf tournaments of the year — and in 2025, it reached a new milestone.
The tournament followed a 9-hole Texas Scramble format, with teams starting across both the front and back nine to keep the day inclusive, energetic, and accessible to golfers of all skill levels. Participants enjoyed a full day of activities, including networking over lunch, skill-based contests such as Longest Drive and Closest to the Pin, and a post-golf dinner and prize ceremony that capped off the day with laughter, stories, and celebration.
While the event itself was a standout success, its lasting impact will be felt far beyond the fairways.
Opening Doors Through Education and Opportunity
The newly established Splatsin Bursary Fund represents a meaningful step forward in supporting community members as they pursue post-secondary education, skills training, and career development opportunities. By reducing financial barriers and providing direct support, the fund is intended to help open doors, strengthen confidence, and empower Splatsin members to build futures aligned with their goals and aspirations.
Education and training play a critical role in creating long-term economic stability, leadership capacity, and community well-being. The Splatsin Bursary Fund will help ensure that community members have access to the opportunities they need to succeed — whether they are entering the workforce, advancing their careers, or returning to school.
Community Support at the Core
The success of the 2025 SDC Classic — and the launch of the bursary fund — would not have been possible without the outstanding support of sponsors and partners. Canco Petroleum proudly served as the Title Sponsor for the event, joined by an exceptional roster of Gold, Silver, Bronze, Hole, and Contest sponsors. Their contributions supported event logistics, prizes, and programming, allowing all proceeds to be directed toward community priorities.
Equally important was the dedication of the SDC team, whose behind-the-scenes efforts brought the event to life. From early planning and setup to registration, hospitality, and coordination throughout the day, staff volunteers played a vital role in delivering a seamless and memorable experience.
The 2025 SDC Classic stands as a reminder of what can be achieved when community, culture, and partnership come together — not just for a single day, but for the future generations who will benefit from the opportunities created.
