SDC Gifts $120,000 to Residential School Monument Project
Splatsin Development Corporation (SDC) has contributed $120,000 to the Splatsin Residential School Monument Project, completing the final funding required to move the project into full fabrication and installation.
The gift was formally presented on December 15, 2025, alongside Residential School Survivors and community members. The monument, led by the Splatsin Tsm7aksaltn (Teaching Centre) Society and guided by Survivors, intergenerational families, and community representatives, will be located on Splatsin reserve lands in Enderby, BC.
Designed by Secwépemc artist Tania Willard, the monument takes the form of a large-scale cedar root cradle, symbolizing care, protection, and the return of children to family, culture, and community. The project is anticipated to be completed in 2026, with a public unveiling to follow.
