Splatsin Homes Update
Work continues to move forward at Splatsin Homes, with progress taking place both on the construction site and behind the scenes as the company prepares for upcoming home builds.
Materials Arrive for Home Construction
Splatsin Homes has received its first shipment of foam blocks, marking another important step as preparations continue for upcoming home construction.
These large blocks are now being stored in the warehouse and will be precision-cut to form the insulated wall systems used in the Splatsin Homes building process. Once the warehouse is fully stocked, it will hold approximately 100 foam blocks, giving the team the ability to cut the components needed for three to four homes, including the Splatsin Homes show home currently under construction.
The construction system being used is designed to create durable, energy-efficient homes that can be built efficiently and built to last. The arrival of these materials represents an important milestone as the company continues preparing for production.
The long-term vision for Splatsin Homes is to support Splatsin, other Indigenous communities, and other clients seeking high-quality housing solutions that are practical, sustainable, and scalable.
Supporting Training and Opportunities in the Trades
Splatsin Homes is also proud to welcome Kh’Alen Jones, a Splatsin band member (pictured on the left in the photo), who recently joined the team as part of his carpentry training.
Kh’Alen is currently a Grade 11 student at A.L. Fortune Secondary School in Enderby and is enrolled in the Entry Level Carpentry Program at Okanagan College in Salmon Arm, where he attends classes four days a week. As part of his training, he will spend one day each week working with the Splatsin Homes construction crew, gaining hands-on experience in residential building.
Kh’Alen began working with the team on Friday, March 6, and the plan is to register him as an apprentice as he continues progressing in the program.
Providing opportunities for Splatsin members to gain experience, training, and careers in the trades is an important part of the work being done through Splatsin Homes. Supporting young people as they develop practical skills helps strengthen both the company and the broader community.
More updates will be shared as construction continues on the Splatsin Homes show home and preparations move forward for additional homes.
