Honouring Baxter Bridge: New Benches Installed Along the Rail Trail

New benches are now in place along the Sicamous to Enderby Rail Trail, offering trail users beautiful new locations to stop, rest, and take in the incredible views of the Shuswap.

On Thursday, May 7, 2026, the Yucwmenlúcwu Civil Construction team completed installation of the remaining benches at several strategic viewpoints along the trail corridor.

These benches were handcrafted by the Splatsin Homes team using salvaged wood from the historic Baxter Bridge, helping preserve and honour an important piece of local history. Each bench also features a commemorative plaque recognizing the legacy of Baxter Bridge and its connection to the region.

This initiative was made possible through the support and partnership of Splatsin, the Columbia Shuswap Regional District (CSRD), and the Regional District of North Okanagan (RDNO), all working together to enhance the experience for residents and visitors using the trail.

Thank you to everyone involved in bringing this meaningful project to life.
