Local Farmers Celebrate Completion of Rosemond Bridge Rail Trail Section

Local farmers whose properties border the Shuswap North Okanagan Rail Trail joined community leaders, SDC representatives, and members of SDC's Yucwmenlúcwu Civil Construction Division to celebrate the completion of the Rosemond Bridge section. The gathering recognized the strong collaboration that helped bring the project to fruition and reaffirmed broad support for the Rail Trail within the local agricultural community.

Local farmers, community leaders, and representatives from Splatsin Development Corporation (SDC) recently gathered at Rosemond Bridge near Mara to celebrate the completion of the newest section of the Shuswap North Okanagan Rail Trail. The event recognized the strong partnerships between local farmers, the Regional District of North Okanagan, the Columbia-Shuswap Regional District, and SDC's Yucwmenlúcwu Civil Construction Division, whose collaborative efforts helped bring the project to life.

The newly opened 14-kilometre Rosemond Bridge-to-Grindrod section provides residents and visitors with access to one of the most scenic stretches of the Rail Trail while demonstrating how agriculture, recreation, and community development can successfully coexist. The gathering also highlighted the preservation of local history through handcrafted benches and bridge elements built using reclaimed timbers and decking from the historic Baxter Bridge.
